Billy Bragg played in Halifax last night at the Rebecca Cohn Theatre, it was my first sit down Billy Bragg show.
For those of you who are not familiar with Billy Bragg he is a folk/punk rock singer from England. He sings about both political matters and matters of the heart.
I first saw Billy Bragg play in 1988 while I was in University in Calgary, and that show won me over. Eighteen years later I saw my seventh Billy Bragg show. His ability to entertain the audience with his story telling has not changed. It was a solo performance and Billy seemed to be having more fun chatting about animal videos on You Tube then playing. I will admit that I would have prefered a few more, and different songs had been played but loved the show none the less.
He is on tour promoting his boxed set retrospectives. Volume 1 was released earlier this year and volume 2 is soon to be released. As well as the box set is also the author a new book The Progressive Patriot: a Search for Belonging. If you haven’t heard Billy Bragg I highly recommend giving him a listen at his myspace page is playing his music.
