Walt Disney World is Closing the Star Wars Hotel Starcruiser Experience

Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser

Although it is not Disney Cruise-related news, I was surprised to read that WDW is closing Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser. Much like a cruise guest would embark on a 2-night immersive cruise on a Galactic Starcruiser.

The hotel opened over a year ago, on March 1st, 2022. The prices to go on the immersive experience were out of this world:

  • Two guests per cabin
    • $1,209 per guest per night (or $4,809 voyage total)
  • Three guests per cabin (2 adults, 1 child)
    • $889 per guest per night (or $5,299 voyage total)
  • Four guests per cabin (3 adults, 1 child)
    • $749 per guest per night (or $5,999 voyage total)

The cost is no doubt the reason for the surprise closure.

A representative for WDW released this statement “Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser is one of our most creative projects ever and has been praised by our guests and recognized for setting a new bar for innovation and immersive entertainment. This premium, boutique experience gave us the opportunity to try new things on a smaller scale of 100 rooms, and as we prepare for its final voyage, we will take what we’ve learned to create future experiences that can reach more of our guests and fans.”

New bookings are currently paused, and the final voyages will happen from September 28th to September 30th, 2023. As a huge Star Wars fan, I am disappointed and had hoped at some point I might get to experience Starcruising. Did you get a chance to visit the Starcruiser Experience?
