Disney Fantasy Oceaneer Lab

Today, Disney Cruise Line confirmed changes to the ages of the Disney kids’ clubs. For the last couple of weeks, guests have been reporting changes to the club for guests aged 11 and 12. They were being separated from the younger kids and could not participate in activities with the younger guests.
Starting December 21, 2023, guests aged 11 and 12 will go to the preteen club The Edge. The Edge was an option for 11 and 12-year-olds before the change. They could go to Disney’s Oceaneer Club, Disney’s Oceaneer Lab, and The Edge. Now Disney’s Oceaneer Club and Oceaneer Lab will only be for kids ages 3-10.

We look forward to welcoming you aboard the Disney Wish and are writing with important information about our onboard youth activities spaces. Based on Guest feedback, and to enhance the youth activities experience for our youngest and tween guests, we are updating the age range for Disney’s Oceaneer Club and Disney’s Oceaneer Lab. The revised age range will begin on sailings that depart on or after December 21, 2023.

Disney’s Oceaneer Club and Disney’s Oceaneer Lab

The age range in Disney’s Oceaneer Club and Disney’s Oceaneer Lab will change from 3 to 12 years of age to 3 to 10 years of age. Kids of all ages can continue to experience these spaces during Open House hours. During all other times, kids 3 to 10 years of age will have Disney’s Oceaneer Club and Disney’s Oceaneer Lab reserved just for them, with specially guided activities for children ages 3-4 years old.

Disney Cruise Line

There is some concern because the Edge doesn’t require kids to check in and out like with the Oceaneer Club and Lab. On the other hand, I think separating the older kids from the young ones is a good thing. The first time we went on a Disney cruise, I thought my daughter was very little compared to the older 10-12-year-old running around the club.

It is believed the change is due to an alleged incident involving an older child and a 3-year-old in 2020.

What do you think about the changes to the clubs’ ages?
