Disney Cruise Line (DCL) has announced a significant change to their documentation requirements for U.S. citizens. Photocopies of birth certificates will no longer be accepted.
- Original Birth Certificates Only: For round-trip sailings departing from the U.S., guests using a birth certificate as citizenship documentation must present an original state-issued birth certificate. Photocopies will no longer be accepted.
- Photo ID Requirements:
- Guests 16 years and older: Must present both an original state-issued birth certificate and a physical government-issued photo ID. (digital/mobile state-issued IDs are not acceptable to sail)
- Children 15 years and younger: Only need to present an original state-issued birth certificate. A government-issued photo ID is not required for this age group.
- Passport Recommendation: While not all Disney Cruise itineraries require a passport, having a valid passport is highly recommended for several reasons:
- It simplifies the documentation process for all itineraries.
- It provides you and your family with approved identification for boarding the ship.
- It prepares you to travel to any destination should the need arise.
- In the unlikely event of an emergency during your cruise that requires you to fly home from a foreign port, a passport allows you to board the flight without delay.
It’s important to note that these requirements may vary depending on your specific itinerary and ports of call. For the most up-to-date and accurate information, please refer to the official DCL website.
Remember, proper documentation is crucial for a smooth embarkation process and to handle any unexpected situations that may arise during your voyage. Don’t let paperwork issues derail your vacation plans!
