Disney Cruise Line is setting sail toward an ambitious future with significant announcements about their fleet expansion plans. The company has revealed details about several new vessels that will join their legendary fleet over the coming years, combining Disney’s signature magical experience with cutting-edge sustainable technology.

Expanding the Wish Class Fleet

The successful Wish; Wish, Treasure, and Destiny, class will welcome another sister ship in 2027, bringing the total number of vessels in this class to four. These ships have already proven popular with Disney fans, offering the premium experience cruisers have come to expect from the entertainment giant.

New Class of Ships on the Horizon

Following the Wish class expansion, Disney Cruise Line will introduce three new vessels in consecutive years – 2029, 2030, and 2031. These ships will establish an entirely new class in Disney’s fleet, featuring a thoughtful balance of size and efficiency. Each vessel will measure 100,000 gross tons and accommodate 3,000 passengers. While 20% larger than the classic Disney Magic and Disney Wonder, these new ships will be more intimate than the Dream and Wish class vessels.

Pioneering Sustainable Technology

What truly sets these new ships apart is their commitment to environmental sustainability. While they won’t utilize LNG (Liquid Natural Gas), they’re designed with remarkable fuel flexibility. The vessels will be capable of operating on various sustainable fuel options, including:

  • Renewable methanol
  • Hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO)
  • Future alternative fuel sources as they become available

Innovative Design Features

Disney has emphasized that these new vessels will be among the most lightweight cruise ships in their size category, incorporating several energy-efficient features:

  • Next-generation power systems
  • Streamlined hull design
  • Advanced propulsion systems
  • Comprehensive energy optimization throughout

Environmental Consciousness in Port

The ships will showcase Disney’s commitment to environmental responsibility even while docked. Each vessel will feature:

  • Advanced battery systems to support and supplement main engines
  • Shore power capability, allowing for complete engine shutdown while in port
  • Reduced environmental impact during port stays

This ambitious fleet expansion demonstrates Disney Cruise Line’s dedication to combining their world-famous guest experience with forward-thinking environmental stewardship, ensuring magical memories for generations to come.
