Disney Cruise Lines was supposed to start a two-night test cruise on June 29, 2021, on the Disney Dream Test cruises are being done to receive a conditional sailing certificate from the CDC. The test cruise was cancelled due to an irregularity in the testing that was being used.

“We are delaying our simulation cruise due to a small number of inconsistent COVID-19 test results, which are considered positive by the CDC,” according to the statement. “The rigorous health and safety protocols we have in place helped us identify the situation, though the test results were ultimately negative.”

Disney is using test cruises to start up cruising again. The alternative is to sail with at least 98% crew and 95% passengers fully vaccinated. Because of the large number of children who sail with Disney, it would be difficult to meet these numbers since under 12’s are not eligible for a vaccine.

Disney could sail by July 18th as a federal judge has granted a preliminary injunction for cruises from Florida that would allow a workaround to the CDC’s conditional sail.

The Disney Magic will begin sailing in the UK for its staycations on July 15, 2021. The staycation sailings require all over 18 cruisers to be vaccinated. You must live in the UK to sail on these cruises.

Hopefully, cruising will begin soon. Disney recently released cruises for Fall 2022 and cruises on the new ship the Disney Wish.
