The Disney Dream disembarked its last passenger at Port Canaveral before it repositions to Miami for cruises this summer. The move is to make room for Disney’s newest ship the Disney Wish which sails its Maiden Voyage on July 14, 2022, from Port Canaveral and will arrive at Port Canaveral early morning on June 20, 2022.
“The Disney Dream will be leaving us on June 6, and the Disney Dream has always called Port Canaveral home,” Capt. John Murray, Port Canaveral CEO, said during a commission meeting last month. “So, it’s heading down to Miami and next year, it’s going to Europe – so that ship probably won’t be back for a while. It’s been a long stay since she was delivered about 10 years ago.”
The construction of the Disney Dream began in 2009 and had its maiden voyage on January 4, 2011. For over eleven years the Disney Dream has taken millions of passengers to Nassau and Castaway Cay. The Disney Dream was the first cruise ship we sailed on in 2012. In 2023 Disney Dream will begin its first summer in Europe.
At 1,115 feet, the Disney Dream is longer than the height of the Eiffel Tower in Paris and longer than the height of New York City’s Chrysler Building, making it one of the fleet’s bigger ships. The Dream’s sister ship, the Disney Fantasy, will continue to call Port Canaveral home.
