When the onboard activity bookings opened up for the Disney Wish Maiden Voyage people noticed that the prices for Adult Beverage tasting seminars had gone up. It wasn’t clear if these new prices were only for the Disney Wish Maiden Voyage or all Disney Cruises. It looks like the prices are going up across the fleet. Some people are reporting an overnight increase in the tasting seminar prices.
For those not familiar with adult beverage tastings seminars, Disney offers various tasting seminars during the cruise. The tasting seminars are a fun and reasonably priced onboard activity. Depending on the class, you will learn about the different types of drinks, taste-test the drinks, and in some cases learn how to mix the drinks—usually, you get 4-5 sample drinks. The seminars are great because they give you a chance to try drinks you may not normally try. Over the years we have attended the Champagne, Wine, Tequila, Martini, Mixology and my favourite Chocolate & Liquor Tasting.
Prices until recently have ranged from $20-40 per person. Now the prices are ranging from $40 to $50 per person. The Disney Wish is also offering some new seminars for $100 per person.
Pricing Changes
Tasting Seminar | Old Price | New Price |
Beer Tasting | $23 | $40 |
Bourbon Tasting | $28 | $45 |
Champagne Tasting | $38 | $50 |
Chocolate & Liquor Tasting | $37 | $50 |
Cognac Tasting | $28 | $50 |
Martini Tasting | $25 | $45 |
Mixology Class | $25 | $45 |
Mojito & Caipirinha Tasting | $23 | $40 |
Rum Tasting | $28 | $45 |
Stem-to-Stern Wine Tasting | $25 | $45 |
Tequila & Margarita Tasting | $23 | $40 |
Whiskey Tasting | $28 | $45 |
As you can see, some of these prices have increased as much as a 44% over the old prices. On average it is a $17 increase per person.
Personally, I think these increases will result in me booking fewer tastings seminars. Mixology and Chocolate & Liquor Tasting are two of my favourite seminars and were a good deal before. Now, I will think twice before booking.
I have included a drink recipe from one of my favourites from a Mixology Seminar. Thanks to Claire and Sue for posting the price changes.
