British Columbia Delays the Start of Cruise Season from Vancouver

Covid vaccinations Disney Cruise

The Disney Wonder was scheduled to arrive in Vancouver on April 29th, 2020, to start its season there first with a cruise to Hawaii and then cruises to Alaska beginning May 18, 2020.

Marc Garneau, Minister of Transport, has stated no cruise ships at Canadian ports before July 1. No ships with more than 500 people onboard. This will apply in the Arctic for the entire 2020 season

“During that news conference, ministers announced a series of new measures to limit the spread of COVID-19:

  • International flights will only be permitted to land at a smaller number of airports. Those locations have not yet been announced.
  • A ban on boats and cruise ships carrying more than 500 people from docking at Canadian ports until July.
  • A recommendation that all travellers arriving in Canada from international points self-isolate for 14 days”

The Disney Cruises affected by these changes are:

April 24, 2020, 5-Night San Diego to Vancouver Cruise
April 29, 2020, 9-Night Hawaiian Cruise from Vancouver
May 8, 2020, 10-night Hawaiian Cruise from Honolulu
May 18, 2020, 7-Night Alaskan Cruise from Vancouver
May 25, 2020, 7-Night Alaskan Cruise from Vancouver
June 1, 2020, 7-Night Alaskan Cruise from Vancouver
June 8, 2020, 7-Night Alaskan Cruise from Vancouver
June 15, 2020, 7-Night Alaskan Cruise from Vancouver
June 22, 2020, 7-Night Alaskan Cruise from Vancouver
June 29, 2020, 7-Night Alaskan Cruise from Vancouver

Canada is also restricting international flights coming into Canada. “We are looking to reduce the number of airports that will accept travellers from overseas in order to be able give the proper resources on all arrivals to ensure we’re doing everything we can to keep Canadians and Canada safe.” What that probably means is that is you are flying into Canada you will be restricted to flying to one of the major airports, Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver.

Disney cancelled cruises starting March 14 until the end of March.
