Disney Cruise Line’s Dress Code

Posted on February 22, 2024February 22, 2024 by Tracy

A common question about taking a Disney Cruise is whether there is a dress code. Luckily, Disney has a very relaxed dress code. If you love to dress up, you certainly can and will not look out of place. If you want to dress more casually on vacation, you can do that, too.

Main Dining Rooms

The main dining locations are “cruise casual,” so casual attire, such as shorts and T-shirts, is permitted. However, swimwear and tank tops are not allowed. Special theme nights on most cruises provide opportunities to dress up for a one-of-a-kind family photo.

3-night cruises:

  • One cruise casual night—no swimwear or tank tops
  • One pirate night-themed deck party
  • One optional “dress-up night”—jacket for men, dress or pantsuit for women

4-night cruises:

  • The first night is cruise casual—no swimwear or tank tops
  • One pirate night-themed deck party
  • One optional dress-up night—jacket for men, dress or pantsuit for women
  • The final night is cruise casual—no swimwear or tank tops

7-night cruises:

  • The first night is cruise casual—no swimwear or tank tops.
  • One pirate night or another themed deck party. (Freezing the Night Away with Elsa)
  • Three additional cruise casual nights—no swimwear or tank tops
  • One formal and one semi-formal night allows you to dress up and take advantage of the onboard photography services. Though optional, we recommend dress pants with a jacket or a suit for men and dress or pantsuit for women.

Adult Restaurants

Dinsey Cruises ships have adult-only restaurants for guests 18+. These restaurants are an additional charge and require reservations.

These restaurants are elegant dining experiences, and guests are requested to dress in a manner consistent with the restaurant’s atmosphere. Disney recommends formal or semi-formal attire when dining in these restaurants.

.However, in recent years, they have relaxed the dress code and now permit dress-casual attire with a polished look, such as dress pants, jeans in good condition, collared shirts, dressy tops and lifestyle shoes. As of early 2024, dress shorts are acceptable for brunch at Palo and Palo Steakhouse. Clothing such as T-shirts, swimwear and sports attire are not permitted. Adults-only restaurants throughout the Disney Cruise.
